Fatmir graduated in Technical Faculty, the Manufacturing Machinery profile, at the University of Prishtina. The Master’s degree in Technical Sciences was taken to the same faculty.

After completing the faculty he worked as a professor of technical subjects at the Center for Secondary Education in Ferizaj from 1981 to 1983.

From 1983 to 1986 he worked at the Welding steel pipes Factory in Ferizaj as a Technician for maintenance of transportation vehicles.

Since 2016, with the transformation of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at the University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj, he works as a lecturer and continues to be at this University.

From 2006 to 2014, Qerkini served as the Chief of the Department of Machinery. Meanwhile, from 2014 to 2015, he was in charge of the Vice Dean for Finance (Acting) and at the same time a lecturer at the Faculty of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj, University of Prishtina.

In October 2015 until February 2016, he was acting dean of the Faculty of Management at the University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj, and from 2016 onwards is Dean of this Faculty.

As a Lecturer of Faculty of Applied Sciences and recently of the University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj, he taught the courses: Knowledge of Materials; Machinery Materials; welding; Departmental Materials; Polymers Processing Technique; Polymers Material Processing Machines; Polymers Materials; Engineering Materials; Designing Technological Processes.

There are published student dispensaries for the subjects: Materials of the Department; Material Technique; Polymers Processing Technique; Polymers Materials; Designing Process Technologies; Welding.
